19 month update

Well Ailise is 19 months old I am so very late with this post and I am so sorry but we have been busy and I have not found the time to write this. Like every month before this I can not believe that Ailise is another month closer to being 2. Time is flying by way to fast.

This past weekend since there was a nice break from the scorching hot weather we went to Mesker Park Zoo on Sunday afternoon. It was a very nice day for the zoo and Ailise seemed to really enjoy it.

We have been trying to go out to my dad’s house at least once most weekends to swim. Ailise loves to go to her papaw’s house and swim and play with the dogs. The last few times we have went swimming she has not wanted to get in her float and wants someone to hold her and let her splash and play that way. But there is one thing at dads pool that she does not like is the slide. Of course we don’t let her on the slide but she absolutely hates for anyone to get on the slide she cries every time my dad or I go down it. My dad has 2 little dogs and Ailise loves to play and aggravate them. When the dogs are gated in the bedroom Ailise will stand out of the gate and bark at them and tempt them.

 We spend a little while at the park this past Monday since the weather was still nice. She really likes the park.

Tantrums are def a part of our lives now especially when we are out in public and she is not getting what she wants. We have started letting Ailise walk more when we are out as long as she holds our hand and she does a pretty good job with it. However, if you want to turn and go down a different aisle or go a different way in the store a lot of times she will throw a fit. We have not figured out why this is causing melt downs but it does and it is not very fun.

Now for the more positive updates on what Ailise has been up to the past month.

**She still is loving to be outside but her time outside has been limited because of the extreme heat that we have had. But the heat really does not seem to bother her. I can tell when she is starting to get really hot because her face is really red.

**Sleeping is still going in spurts. She will do really good for a few weeks then she goes a few nights where she is up a lot. The nights that she sleeps from 8 pm to 7 or 730 and maybe wakes up once around 9 or so for just a few minutes she is in a much better mood. We seem to have a good bedtime routine and getting her to sleep is not the problem as often as getting her to stay asleep. Most nights she is asleep by 8 unless she has taken a late nap because we were out and she feel asleep in the car.

**She is getting to be a very picky eater. She only wants to eat certain foods that she really likes. Anytime I try to get her a new vegetable or breakfast food she makes an awful face and spits it out. But she does love bananas, peaches, pears, oranges, tomatoes, cheese, hot dogs, lunchables, lunch meat, sometimes ground beef, Gerber Ravioli and a few of the other Gerber meals. She did eat a little bit of thin crust pizza last weekend it was not even half a piece but at least she did try it and eat it. Bread and potatoes are still something that she does not want anything to do with unless it is a Golden Glaze donut hole but she has not been into those as much lately. But she does love cookies and Jr Mints no doubt.

** Ailise says wa-wa for water, koger for Kroger, dorda for Dora, gaagaas for glasses, go, Oscar, uhoh, shoe, mine, bubbles, welcome, she tries to say tomorrow it sounds more like momow, walk,  and she is starting to put two words together: hi kitty, hi dada, move kitty.

**Ailise loves to color and draw. She will walk over to the dresser and point and say kaka and that means she wants a crayon. She also loves to draw on her magnadoodle.

** Bath time is still one of her favorite parts of the day. She loves to take bubble baths. If I ask her if she is ready to take a bath she will point toward the bathroom and say bubbles. If we tell her yes she can have bubbles then she runs to the bathroom gets the bottle of Mr Bubble and stands at the edge of the tub saying bubbles and pointing to the faucet waiting for you to start the water.

**Ailise has gotten really good with climbing steps and steeping on and off raised surfaces.

**Ailise can show you were her hands, toes, ears, nose, eyes, tongue, head, belly and butt are. She can also tell you the characters in her Sesame Street book or anywhere that she sees them. She knows most of them she knows Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar, and Bert. She can also tell you momma, dada, mimi, poppa, papaw when she sees them.

**Whenever it is time to eat Ailise will go to cabinet get out one of her Gerber Ravioli’s open it and throw the package away then bring the container to me and she wants me to pick her up so that she can open the microwave and put the ravioli in and close the door then she waits for me to set the time and she wants to push the start button.

**She loves to swiffer the floors. Every time that I swiffer when she is in the room she has to go back and do it also. Sometime she will go to the closet where we keep the broom and swiffer and try to open the door and say boom.

**Ailise loves to put on everyone else’s shoes and try to walk around in them. She has even started to stomp around in her dada’s sandals. It is so funny to watch her stomp across the floor with his sandals on and she thinks it is funny also.

**Getting dressed is starting to become a real job because sometimes she does not want you to change her clothes and then sometimes wants to change her own clothes. Some days I will her pick between a couple of different shirts and that seems to make things go smoother.

Well I guess that is all for now. I am sure there are a lot more things that I have forgotten to mention this month but if I think of them I will include them in next months post which if I am on time will be in just a few weeks.

I hope everyone is enjoying being back to school and enjoys the rest of the summer and hopefully we will have some more enjoyable weather.
